Kato Six | a line is a line is a line | 05.12.2026 - 24.01.2027
( s o o n ) presents a line is a line is a line, a solo exhibition by Brussels-based artist Kato Six.
Moving between drawing, sculpture, textile and installation, Six explores how abstract forms become familiar and how familiar objects can be seen anew. Working with everyday materials and gestures, she blurs the boundaries between art, craft and functional objects.
In a line is a line is a line, Six approaches the line as a recurring yet ever-changing element, exploring its many forms and manifestations through drawing, objects and spatial investigations.
A line can appear as a stripe on a sheet of paper, take the form of a carpet beater on a carpet, or unfold as a topological exploration of landscape and space. It can be a mark, a trace, a boundary or a path: sometimes deliberate and clearly defined, sometimes subtle, repetitive or almost imperceptible.
Across these different expressions, the line shifts between the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional, between gesture and structure, and between the intimate scale of an object and the expansive dimensions of a landscape. What initially appears as a simple formal element becomes a way of observing, organising and navigating the world.

Biography Kato Six
Kato Six (b. 1986, BE) is a visual artist, furniture maker, educator and researcher. Working with a wide range of materials, primarily through hands-on processes, she is interested in the act of making: gestures, repetition, time, the ways in which materials shape us, the limits of matter, and our relationship with nature and landscape. By looking beyond the habitual in everyday things, she seeks to cultivate a heightened sensitivity to the world around us. Her practice is based in Brussels, and she teaches in the printmaking department at PXL-MAD School of Arts in Hasselt.
